First Big Knitting Project January 30, 2008

So, I’ve been working on the “Knitting Pure & Simple – Easy Baby Cardigan” by Diane Soucy. This should be a simple project, but as you can see below, it’s beyond my level of knitting.

My increases look nasty and uneven. I think I need to read more and practice more before I attempt a project this large. Oh and did you notice the random hole? Heres a picture just in case:

So, I am going to go buy new yarn and try a beginner’s pattern that lets me practice some basic techniques. I may start a sewing project this weekend, but I’m not sure yet. I think I may make a cute dress or something.

Well, I haven’t worked on my first real knitting project in two days.  I hope I can finish it on weekends.  I’ll post some pictures of the AWESOME hole in one of the first few rows I knitted.  Do not ask me how it got there, I have no idea.  The rest of it is coming along.

Christmas and New York January 8, 2008

For Christmas this year, the Grandparents-in-law treated the family to a week in the mountains – and it was awesome!  We had a wonderful time!  Went downtown and shopped, relaxed by the fire, played a lot of pool, and I kicked some Wii butt!

After all the relaxing, we had to do something exciting!! So we decided to fly up to NY and see the ball drop in Time’s Square.  We ended up partying like a rockstar with some friends of ours who were also in NY and it was awesome!

I also got a hat of my own and I rocked that bitch!

I also got some pictures of the big Christmas tree in Rockafeller Center.

On top of everything, I took my first plane ride and it was cool.  I took some pics to commemorate the occasion.

Overall, it was the most awesome vacation to date.  I hope to do more cool things like that in the future!!

This is a new blog… January 7, 2008

For those of you who followed my LJ (used to be many, now just a few) this is my new blog. I am trying to make this one a bit more focused than my other. I still plan to update my other blog, but not nearly as frequently.

Well, first order of business is to explain the purpose of this new outlet for thoughts and the like. This lovely collection of writings will be devoted to all things related to crafting, knitting, sewing, doll collecting, and family. I will try to keep things together that go together, but sometimes it may not work out that way.

Why not me? January 4, 2008

So, it’s probably been a while since I’ve posted anything worth a crap, but I really need to.

First thing is first: Mike no longer has any hand in what we do financially–and that is incredibly liberating.

Secondly, I’m beginning to get really sad about all this baby business.  The whole thing is so incredibly frustrating.  We started “trying” in October 2006.  It’s now January 2007 and as it is heir apparent, we have no child-I’m not even pregnant.  The whole “trying, but not trying” and “letting nature take it’s course” thing is getting old.  Apparently “nature” is not down with the plan I have.  I know I need to lose weight, which would probably help, but it’s really hard when you have no support system whatsoever.  It’s so discouraging.   Then I find myself getting incredibly jealous and angry at people who “accidently” get pregnant.  Yes, I truly believe all babies are blessings and have no say so in being brought into the world; but I have to wonder, what about the people like Holly and me who try and prepare for a long time with no results?  I just don’t know anymore.

My baby box is now the proud owner of the most adorable Boppy I got really cheap at Marshall’s.

Thought of the Day: What’s WRONG with me?
